Archivio Storico Touring Club Italiano

Milan, Lombardy

Founded in 1894 as the Touring Club Ciclistico Italiano, the TCI built up over time a collection now preserved in Milan by its Historical Archive: more than 350,000 photographs and 30,000 postcards taken between 1870 and 1970, alongside guidebooks, atlases and publications going back to 1895. The map collection holds more than 10,000 maps and hundreds of original lithographic plates, evidence of the first 1:250,000-scale tourist map of Italy, produced by the Touring Club between 1906 and 1914. Since 2014 the Digitouring project has made part of this heritage searchable online, forming a digital company museum supported by the Lombardy region.
