Active since 2001 but heir to a collection recognised as being of notable historical interest as far back as 1976, the Foundation's archive holds almost two linear kilometres of documents spanning 1876 to the early 2000s. More than 13,000 files of correspondence and administrative papers, alongside a section of over 3,000 volumes linked to the newspaper, tell the publishing history of Corriere della Sera and of the Rizzoli and Bompiani publishing houses. Based on Via Solferino in Milan, it is a genuine research centre on the history of Italian journalism.
