Founded in 2005 by Leonardo Di Vincenzo in Borgorose, among the Duchessa mountains on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo, Birra del Borgo was one of the breweries that paved the way for Italian craft beer. Its first labels, born at the old Colle Rosso brewery, such as ReAle, DucAle and Duchessa, brought English- and Belgian-style top fermentation and bottle conditioning to Italy. In 2016 the brewery was acquired by the AB InBev group, but Di Vincenzo has stayed at its helm, and the site now offers a shop and guided tours of the production plant.
