Fabbrica Ceramiche Torretti, founded by Carlo Torretti in 1950, produces artistic majolica following the traditional techniques of the Deruta ceramics district, one of the most renowned in Italy. The Megastore attached to the plant displays, across 2,000 square metres, traditional pieces, historic reproductions and hand-painted ceramic furnishings. Guided tours, by appointment, show the whole majolica-making cycle, from throwing raw clay to hand-painted decoration, and are complemented by educational workshops for adults and children. A chance to see up close a craft handed down in Deruta for centuries.
