Founded in 1973 in Sesto San Giovanni, the Fondazione Isec preserves the memory of labour and industry through the archives of major companies such as Breda, Ercole Marelli, Bastogi and Italtel, together with those of factory trade union organisations. Its holdings include more than 400 archival collections, 170,000 photographs and 100,000 technical drawings, a story in images and documents of the city once known as Italy's Stalingrad. A reference point for anyone wanting to trace the history of twentieth-century Italian labour and society.
