Fondazione Sella

Biella, Piedmont

Established in 1980 to safeguard the Sella family's heritage, the Foundation is based in the historic Lanificio Maurizio Sella wool mill and preserves more than two linear kilometres of documents and around a million photographs, with collections dating back to the thirteenth century. Among its treasures is the photographic archive of Vittorio Sella, a pioneer of mountain photography between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. A journey through the entrepreneurial and cultural memory of the Biella area, spanning textiles, banking and a passion for the mountains.
