Founded in 1878 in Atripalda by Angelo Mastroberardino, the estate weathered phylloxera and both world wars while continuing to defend the native Irpinia grape varieties, Aglianico, Fiano and Greco, at a time when many had already abandoned them for more productive varieties. It was among the key players in the revival of Taurasi, raised to DOCG status in 1993, and of Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, with the Radici line among its most representative labels. The estate has also overseen the restoration of ancient vineyards within the excavations of Pompeii, bringing vines back to grow among the domus following Roman cultivation methods. The visit to the Atripalda headquarters tells this story spanning more than a century, through historic cellars, vineyards in Irpinia and the promotion of Campania's native grape varieties.
