Museo Kartell

Noviglio, Lombardy

The Museo Kartell was created in 1999 at the wish of Claudio Luti, marking fifty years since the company's debut, founded in 1949 by chemical engineer Giulio Castelli with the K101 ski rack, the brand's first plastic object. The museum is housed in the Noviglio plant, Kartell's headquarters since 1967, a building designed by architects Anna Castelli Ferrieri and Ignazio Gardella and considered one of the most significant examples of industrial architecture in Lombardy. The ever-growing collection now holds more than 8,000 pieces, 5,000 drawings and 15,000 photographs tracing the evolution of plastic materials, production technology and the company's design language. A journey through seventy years of Italian innovation in plastic furniture-making.
