It all began in 1964, when the Zanella family bought a smallholding set in woodland on the hills of Erbusco; the first vines were planted from 1968, and the first wine, a Pinot di Franciacorta Bianco, was born in 1972. Under the guidance of Maurizio Zanella, Ca' del Bosco grew over the years into a benchmark for the Italian classic method, pairing winemaking research with an important contemporary art collection spread through the vineyards and cellars, featuring works by Arnaldo Pomodoro, Igor Mitoraj and Stefano Bombardieri. The guided visit crosses the dramatic underground cellars through to the Cuvée Prestige room, ending with a tasting of the estate's most representative labels. A journey that makes Ca' del Bosco as much an open-air museum as an icon of Franciacorta.
