In the sixteenth-century Palazzo Ricca, once home to the Banco dei Poveri, the Cartastorie museum tells, through eighty kilometres of shelving and seventeen million names, the economic and social history of Naples and southern Italy from 1573 to today. It is the largest banking archive in the world, and through multimedia tools and creative writing it brings back voices, stories and figures preserved in its historic ledgers. A collection that earned it the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage in 2016.
