Museo Piaggio

Pontedera, Tuscany

Opened in 2000 in one of the oldest workshops of the Piaggio plant, the museum tells the company's industrial history from its founding in 1884 onward. Across 5,000 square metres of exhibition space, more than 250 items are gathered, from the early pre-war railway and aeronautical production to the famous collection of Vespas that made Pontedera known around the world. The route also includes two-, three- and four-wheeled vehicles such as the Ape and the Porter, alongside historic motorcycles from the group's brands, Aprilia, Gilera and Moto Guzzi. Self-guided or guided visits trace the evolution of an icon of Italian design born in these very sheds.
