Prunotto

Alba, Piedmont

Its origins go back to 1904, when the "Ai Vini delle Langhe" cooperative was founded, taken over around twenty years later by Alfredo Prunotto, who gave it its current name. The winery is based in Alba, between the Barolo and Barbaresco areas, and grows around 50 hectares of vines in some of the finest parcels of the Langhe. In 1961 then-owner Beppe Colla was among the first to vinify separately the grapes of the Bussia cru, a natural amphitheatre of more than seven hectares facing south, helping to define the concept of single-vineyard Barolo. Now owned by the Antinori family, the winery runs guided cellar tours with tastings of its cru Barolo and Barbaresco.
