Sella & Mosca

Alghero, Sardinia

Founded in 1899 by Piedmontese partners Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca, it is Sardinia's largest winery, with the I Piani estate forming a single, contiguous planted area on the outskirts of Alghero. It grows native grapes such as Cannonau and Vermentino alongside the rare Torbato, showcased almost exclusively by the estate in its Terre Bianche label. The visit crosses the historic ageing cellars and the wine museum, as well as the remains of the Sant'Imbenia nuraghe, evidence of a winemaking vocation with roots going back to the Nuragic age. Among its historic labels is Anghelu Ruju, a passito made from sun-dried Cannonau grapes.
