A family estate of the Ragnedda family in Arzachena, in the Gallura, has helped bring Vermentino to levels of excellence through low yields and wood-ageing unusual for the variety. Its historic labels, including Vermentino di Gallura and Vendemmia Tardiva, are among the most awarded of the denomination and opened the way to a new image for the Sardinian grape. The vineyards lie on granite soils typical of northern Gallura, a few kilometres from the Costa Smeralda. The cellar visit offers a tasting of the different styles of Vermentino, from the freshest to the most structured, and an insight into decades of research on the grape.
