Cantina Mesa

Sant'Anna Arresi, Sardinia

A winery in the lower Sulcis founded in the early 2000s by advertising executive Gavino Sanna, who wanted to invest in his native land by focusing on the Carignano grape, bush-trained on sandy soils near the sea. Its early partnership with winemaker Giacomo Tachis helped define the style of its most important labels, such as Buio Buio, among the most internationally recognised Sardinian reds. The vineyards spread across the Sant'Anna Arresi plain, close to the dunes and the Sulcis coast. The visit takes in a walk through the vines and the winemaking cellar, with tastings dedicated to different interpretations of Carignano.
