Founded in 1893 by twenty-four winegrowers joined in a cooperative, Cantina Terlano is one of South Tyrol's oldest cooperative wineries, now joined by the historic Cantina Andriano, founded the same year and merged into the group in 2008. Its 190 hectares of terraced vineyards run between 250 and 900 metres above sea level, seventy per cent planted with white grapes and the rest with Pinot Noir and Lagrein. The winery also holds one of Italy's largest and oldest stocks of still wines, with vintages going back to its founding, testimony to the remarkable ageing potential of its great whites. The visit can be paired with a walk along the Terlano Wine Road, where information panels tell the area's long winemaking history.
