Founded in 1960 by twenty-eight winegrowers who broke away from the historic Cantina di Cornaiano, Colterenzio stands in an area planted with vines since Roman times, when the settler Cornelius established his Cornelianum estate here. Since 1979 the leadership of director Luis Raifer has driven a marked leap in quality, showcasing the terroirs of the Oltradige for a production now made up 65% of white wines, including Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay. The Sauvignon Riserva Gran Lafóa has won Gambero Rosso's Tre Bicchieri award and been named white wine of the year, confirming the winery's flair for South Tyrol's great whites. The visit reveals the vineyards, the winery and the history of one of Italy's most awarded cooperatives.
