Livio Felluga, born in 1914, settled in Rosazzo in the late 1930s and after the war devoted himself to reviving the old hillside vineyards, laying the foundations of one of the historic estates of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. In 1981 came Terre Alte, today Rosazzo DOCG, a blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grown on the terraces around the Abbazia di Rosazzo. The visit winds through the hillside vineyards, on limestone marl and sandstone soils between 100 and 350 metres above sea level, and on to the winery where the estate's historic labels are tasted. A journey combining the area's millennia-old tradition with the leap in quality driven by the Felluga family after the war.
