Housed in a former sawtooth-roofed Ferrovie Nord warehouse, once used to repair steam locomotives, MILS tells the story of industry in the Saronno area from the second half of the nineteenth century to the economic boom of the 1960s. On display are machinery and objects from historic companies such as Gianetti Ruote, Isotta Fraschini, FIMI Phonola and Lazzaroni. Born from a 1996 temporary exhibition of items gathered from former employees, the museum restores collective memory to an entire manufacturing district.
