Museo Salvatore Ferragamo

Florence, Tuscany

The museum occupies the evocative basement rooms of Palazzo Spini Feroni, built in 1289 by banker Geri Spini and a protagonist of Florentine history ever since. Founded in 1995 by Salvatore Ferragamo's wife, Wanda, the museum unfolds across seven rooms telling the ingenuity of the shoemaker who came to shoe Hollywood's greatest stars. The heart of the collection, held in an archive of more than 14,000 pieces, is a sequence of models, wooden lasts, sketches and photographs documenting Ferragamo's creations between the late 1920s and 1960. A journey weaving together the story of the Florentine maison with the centuries-old history of the palazzo that has housed it for decades.
