Torrefazione Bontadi

Rovereto, Trentino-South Tyrol

The origins of Torrefazione Bontadi go back to 1790, when Carlo Bontadi began trading coffee in Rovereto: actual roasting began generations later, when his great-great-grandson Oddone installed the first machines, now preserved in the family museum. Considered the oldest coffee roastery in Italy, founded before a unified Italy even existed, it holds in Vicolo del Messaggero a unique collection of coffee-making equipment spanning 1790 to today. Group visits, booked by phone on weekends, last around 45 minutes and traditionally end with a coffee tasting.
