Vietti

Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont

The Vietti family settled in the late nineteenth century at the highest point of the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto, where in 1961 Alfredo Currado was among the first to vinify Nebbiolo from a single vineyard, the Rocche cru, paving the way for the modern single-cru Barolos. The winery occupies old castle storerooms, crossed by tunnels that tell centuries of the village's history. Among its owned vineyards are Rocche and Villero in Castiglione Falletto and Scarrone in Castagnole delle Lanze. Guided tours cross the historic crus and end with a tasting of the estate's wines.
