The nougat maker's story begins in 1889 with Giuanneddu Pili, an itinerant nougat seller who travelled the roads of the Barbagia selling his homemade sweets. In Tonara, the town that symbolises the Sardinian nougat tradition, a thousand metres up on the Gennargentu massif, the craft became a settled business passed down through generations, now in the hands of the fifth. Alongside the original recipe, chocolate nougats, almond brittle and nougat cream liqueur have emerged over time. A small family museum tells the history and techniques of this age-old confectionery tradition.
