The San Marco estate, which in the Middle Ages belonged to the Bishop of Spoleto, was bought in 1881 by Francesco Antonelli with the ambition of making it a cutting-edge farming estate. It now covers 170 hectares, 50 of them under vine and certified organic since 2012, in the heart of Sagrantino di Montefalco country. The winery, entirely underground and designed for gravity-flow winemaking, is visited together with the barrel room beneath the old manor villa. The closing tasting offers Sagrantino alongside the estate's other wines.
