Bisol1542

Valdobbiadene (Santo Stefano), Veneto

The first records of the Bisol family as winegrowers in Valdobbiadene date to 1542, when the Cartizze hill was still called Chartice: since then, twenty-one generations have been tied to the same land. The modern winery was born in 1875 in Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, with an underground cellar carved into the rock where the sparkling wines still age today. The heart of production remains Cartizze, just under three hectares of owned land considered the Grand Cru of Prosecco for the quality of the Glera grapes that ripen there. The visit offers a walk through Valdobbiadene's steep hills and tastings of Prosecco Superiore, including the prized Cartizze.
