Founded in 1973 in Groppo di Manarola on the initiative of president Matteo Bonanini, the cooperative today brings together 220 members owning 46 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Cinque Terre. The headquarters, built in 1982 using the same materials as the terraces, halted the abandonment of this heroic viticulture, preserving the dry-stone walls, rack railways and historic paths that still allow cultivation on these cliffside coasts today. This is where the Cinque Terre and Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà DOCs are born, the latter the famous wine from dried grapes whose name comes from the Ligurian verb "sciacâ", to press. The winery visit is a chance to discover up close one of Italy's most extreme and fascinating winegrowing landscapes.
