Terre Bianche

Dolceacqua, Liguria

Terre Bianche's origins go back to 1870, when Tommaso Rondelli planted the first Rossese vines in the Arcagna area, inland from Ventimiglia towards Dolceacqua. The estate's name comes from the white clay and marl soils rich in marine fossils that characterise these hills, farmed since the days of the Ligurians, the Romans and later the Benedictines. Expanded between the 1980s and 1990s by brothers Claudio and Paolo Rondelli with Franco Laconi, and now also run by Filippo Rondelli, the estate produces Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC, Liguria's first controlled designation of origin. The Bricco Arcagna cru, made from century-old vines, remains one of the finest expressions of this native Ligurian grape.
