Founded in 1962 in San Marzano di San Giuseppe, in the province of Taranto, Cantine San Marzano is one of Italy's most awarded wine cooperatives, having brought Primitivo di Manduria to international markets. The estate's flagship vineyard is the Sessantanni, giving its name to the Primitivo made from bush-trained vines more than sixty years old, among the most recognised expressions of the denomination. Alongside Primitivo, the winery showcases Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Susumaniello, native grapes of the Taranto area, in a contemporary-designed winery. The visit includes the estate's wine museum, its historic vineyards and a tasting of the labels most representative of Apulian tradition.
