Fattoria Zerbina

Brisighella (Marzeno), Emilia-Romagna

It all began in 1966, when Vincenzo Geminiani planted the first vines in the Marzeno valley, among the clay-limestone hills that separate Faenza from Brisighella. Since 1987 his granddaughter Cristina Geminiani has led the estate towards a marked leap in quality for Sangiovese and Albana, experimenting with clonal selection and bush-trained vines. Zerbina is today a benchmark for Albana passito made using the noble-rot technique, with labels such as Scaccomatto leading the way, and for Sangiovese di Marzeno, which became a DOC in 2011 with wines such as Pietramora. Vineyard walks and guided tastings tell the story of one of the estates that revived quality winemaking in Romagna.
