Fontana Candida

Monte Porzio Catone, Lazio

In Monte Porzio Catone, the birthplace of Marco Porcio Catone and his treatise on agriculture, the Fontana Candida winery stands in a centuries-old farmhouse built where an ancient Roman villa once stood. Incorporated as a company in 1958 after a long period of family management, the estate covers around 350 hectares of vineyard, including the thirteen hectares of the prized Vigneto Santa Teresa. This is where Frascati Superiore DOCG Riserva Luna Mater is born, the expression of a tradition that has made Fontana Candida one of the best-known interpreters of the so-called "wine of the Popes". Now part of the Gruppo Italiano Vini, the winery has two plants, in Frascati and Monte Porzio Catone, dedicated to winemaking and bottling respectively.
