Poggio le Volpi

Monte Porzio Catone, Lazio

Founded in 1996 by winemaker Felice Mergè, Poggio le Volpi carries on a family tradition going back to his grandfather Mario, who carried the wine of the Castelli Romani to Rome by mule along the Via Prenestina. Its 35 hectares of vineyard, at around 400 metres above sea level on volcanic soils, grow Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia and Trebbiano, the base for Frascati Superiore DOCG Epos and Frascati Cannellino. The winery, equipped with modern technology, overlooks the Roman countryside and is today among the most visited destinations for tours and tastings in the Frascati area. Alongside production, the estate has opened the Epos Bistrot, set amid the vine rows with views over the city of Rome.
