Villa Simone was born in 1982 from an idea of Piero Costantini, a well-known Roman wine merchant, who bought three hectares of vineyard between Frascati and Monte Porzio Catone, betting everything on quality at a time when this wine was little regarded. Now run by his grandson, winemaker Lorenzo Costantini, the estate is among the historic members of the Consorzio Tutela Denominazioni Vini Frascati and makes Frascati DOC, Frascati Superiore DOCG and Cannellino di Frascati DOCG, with Malvasia del Lazio making up eighty per cent of the blends. The Vigneto Filonardi, the estate's cru, has won recent international recognition, confirming the winery's ability to showcase the potential of the Castelli Romani area. Cellar visits trace this story amid the vine rows spread across the Tuscolane hills.
