The story of Fratelli Carli begins in 1911 in Oneglia, when the Carli brothers, printers by trade, decided to sell door to door the surplus oil from their olive grove to build loyalty among their print-shop customers. In 1992 the family opened the Museo dell'Olivo next to the historic plant, housed in a 1930s Art Nouveau building designed by architect Rodolfo Winter, with a garden holding antique olive presses. The museum unfolds in eighteen sections tracing six thousand years of olive history around the Mediterranean. The visit thus tells, side by side, the Ligurian olive-oil tradition and the growth of a company that went from door-to-door sales to becoming one of the leading names in the field.
