Institut Agricole Régional

Aosta, Aosta Valley

Born in 1969 as an experimental winery and turned in 1982 into an agricultural college, the Institut Agricole Régional is the Aosta Valley's leading centre for winemaking research and training, with a modern winery running since 2005. Production comes from four distinct vineyards — Moncenis, Cossan, Hospice and Ampaillan — also committed to reviving historic native grape varieties at risk of disappearing. Guided tours and tastings, by appointment, offer a close look at this one-of-a-kind teaching winery. A place where agronomic experimentation and mountain winegrowing tradition have been intertwined for more than fifty years.
