Its origins go back to 1897, when Nino Negri married Amelia Galli, owner of the Castello Quadrio in Chiuro, which became the winery's home. Here, at 350 metres above sea level, the estate grows 33 hectares of terraced vineyards in Valtellina's historic crus, including Grumello, Fracia and Inferno. In 1956 came Sfursat, made from Chiavennasca grapes naturally dried for around three months and vinified with a long maceration, then aged in barrique and bottle: from this tradition comes the signature label Sfursat 5 Stelle. The visit to the Castello Quadrio and the historic cellars tells more than a century of heroic viticulture on the Alpine terraces.
