Factory Poli Distillerie
Schiavon, Veneto
The distillery's roots go back to 1898, when GioBatta Poli, after starting to distil grappa with a mobile still in 1885, installed the first fixed still in Schiavon following a government ban on itinerant distilling. Since 2011 the Poli Museo della Grappa has stood next to the plant, a thousand square metres over two floors holding around two thousand bottles of grappa made between the 1930s and 1980s by nearly four hundred distilleries, many now gone. The guided visit follows the stages of distillation and traces the history of the Poli family, ending with a tasting of the company's spirits.
